Today’s DevotionTrust in Marriage

Trust in Marriage is very important, but before we get too deep into that, let’s talk about another subject related to trust in marriage.

Every now and then a particular company sends me a good amount of credit card and loan offers via email. There have been times when I took advantage of these offers, but lately I haven’t found a good reason to take advantage of any of their offers as of late. You see, right now I have maximized my credit use and don’t see any need for a potential new credit card or loan, so I don’t open their emails as often as I use to. However, there will come a time when I will use their services when I see that their offers can fulfill a financial need that I might have, until then I will read their offers, because the also help me to stay on top on my credit score which is the topic of today’s devotion.

We all have a credit score that the 3 major credit bureaus monitor on a regular basis to show other companies how creditworthy we are. They don’t just show your credit score and history to just any company. They only provide that information to companies or financial institutions who request your information because, you did something that triggered a request, like applying for a loan, or a credit card. They will also allow a company to pull your credit when you are renting a property, applying for a job where the company sees a need to review your credit history, or for any other reason that may come up.

Your credit score and history are very valuable, especially when you see a need to make a purchase that you would not be able to make without the help of a lending company. This could be anything from purchasing your first home, buying a car, or getting funds to start a new business venture. You want to make sure that you use your credit wisely and don’t get more than you need, otherwise you will find yourself in a position where you are financially over extended. This is where you have taken advantage of more loan offers than you can pay back, but we are not going to get too much deeper into this. Your credit score says to the world around you that you are capable of making wise financial decisions and can be trusted. Shifting gears, how is the trust in your marriage?

Just as your credit score is based on your financial track record, so is the trust in your marriage. A marriage without trust can be compared to a person who hasn’t been taken care of their financial responsibilities and are unable to get the proper credit that they need to make some of life better choices. When your track record in your marriage says that you can’t be trusted, you too, like the person with the low credit score, will not be able to have quality of life in your marriage. There will always be tension, suspicion, and let’s not forget the increased level of frustration on your end and on your spouse’s end as well. This frustration comes from lack of trust and until trust is rebuilt in your marriage the quality of your marriage will suffer because of this frustration. Just as a lender will find it difficult or even impossible to extend credit to a person that is financially untrust worthy, the same applies in marriage. Love will fade, hope will fade, respect will fade, and intimacy along with other vital areas of you marriage will begin to fade and it’s very difficult to come back from this. Taking care of trust in marriage is vital as mentioned earlier and it’s never to late to start rebuilding trust in marriage, especially if trust in your marriage has been broken by either you or your spouse.
